IT IS WITH THE HEAVIEST OF HEARTS THAT WE HAVE TO REPORT THAT ON WEDNESDAY 18TH APRIL 2012 AT 08.30 THOMAS TOOK HIS LAST BREATH IN HIS MUMMYS ARMS SURROUNDED BY THE PEOPLE HE LOVED THE MOST. HE FOUGHT NEUROBLASTOMA WITH COURAGE AND DETERMINATION RIGHT TO THAT LAST BREATH. HE KNEW NO FEAR.
FROM HIS MUMMY "WE LOVE YOU SON, YOU ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE MY INSPIRATION"
Meet Thomas
Thomas is a funny, loving four year old boy. He is a son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. For the past year Thomas has bravely battled against aggressive childhood cancer Neuroblastoma.
Thomas has undergone induction chemotherapy, surgery, high dose chemotherapy with stem cell rescue, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and retinoic acid treatment. This is a very tough treatment regime and throughout it all Thomas was brave and strong.
January 2012 saw treatment finish and as a family we were looking to the return of some normality to our lives. Thomas was going to Nursery and we nervously looked to the future with optimism.
Sadly this was short lived, two days before Thomas's fourth birthday we were told that routine, end of treatment scans had found a tumour the size of a small apple on Thomas's brain. We were already aware that there is no UK relapse protocol and now had to face the harsh realisation that any treatment in the UK does not aim to cure Thomas.
In the USA this is not the case, there are many relapse protocols and therefore this is where we are looking at getting Thomas his best chance of survival. The treatment that best tackles Thomas's particular type of relapse is found in New York, costing in excess of £500,000.
Thomas urgently needs this treatment and we are now desperately trying to raise this huge sum of money, and we need YOUR help.
We ask you to support the Thomas Cammack appeal and give our son the lifeline he desperately needs, and deserves.
